Spencer M. Albos
Senior Associate
A Senior Associate who co-supervises the Firm’s litigation practice group, Mr. Albos graduated from the University of the Philippines - College of Law in 2017 and was admitted to the Bar in 2018. Aside from being a lawyer, he is also a licensed professional teacher, with a degree in Mathematics and Science Teaching (magna cum laude) from the University of the Philippines.
Before joining the Firm, Mr. Albos worked at one of the biggest law firms in the country and was a member of its litigation, employment, and tax practice groups. The firm gave him the citation of Pro Bono Champion (for Associate/Senior Associate category) in 2020.
Mr. Albos’s work experience covers broad and diverse range of legal matters, including land disputes, money claims, contracts cases, product liability, financial crimes, cybercrimes, insurance issues, customs proceedings, family and succession problems, energy litigation, and corporate rehabilitation and liquidation. He represents clients in civil, commercial, criminal, and administrative proceedings and appears in trial courts, appellate courts, and quasi-judicial bodies.
Mr. Albos has advised and assisted various clients on employment matters, including employment contracts, company policies and handbooks, management prerogatives, labor and industrial relations, labor standards, labor compliance, secondment and assignment, collective bargaining, retirement, and employment termination. He has also handled several corporate services retainer accounts involving multinational and local clients in various industries, reviewed various kinds of agreements and transactional documents, conducted various due diligence works for different clients and transactions, and transacted with government agencies to assist clients in complying with regulatory and reportorial requirements.
Mr. Albos’s notable projects include successfully assisting a global religious institution in repossessing a multi-million real property, successfully causing the quick dismissal of a decade-old land title annulment case, and protecting other highly valuable real properties; successfully defending various local and international companies in unlawful dismissal claims; successfully defending a global telecommunications service provider from real property tax assessments of a local government unit in the Philippines; representing international and local clients in corporate rehabilitation and liquidation proceedings in various courts in the country; prosecuting financial crimes (e.g., estafa and qualified theft) committed by former employees of several multinational companies; acting as counsel in an ad hoc arbitration proceedings under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules; and advising a multinational information technology company and an international engineering company on contractor’s license application requirements of the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB).
Mr. Albos is a passionate learner and teacher. During his free time, he spends time with his family, reads e-books and listens to audiobooks on how to be a better lawyer and litigator, and learns about advanced techniques of legal writing and analysis. He also teaches Legal Method, a course on legal research, analysis, and writing, to first- year law students in UP College of Law.
